Veracruz Human Rights Commission receives complaints over medicine shortages

The Veracruz State Human Rights Commission (CEDH) has received at least three complaints regarding medicine shortages in health centers this year. Minerva Regina Pérez López, president of the CEDH, reported that two complaints originated from health centers in Xalapa and one from the municipality of Río Blanco.

In response to these cases, the commission coordinates directly with health authorities to ensure affected individuals receive necessary medication or immediate medical attention.

Additionally, the CEDH has issued 46 recommendations so far in 2026. These recommendations have been directed toward the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), the secretariats of Public Security, Education, and Health, as well as various municipal governments. Eight of these recommendations are currently within the timeframe for authorities to decide whether to accept them.
