Veracruz IMSS clinic evacuated following air conditioning duct fire

A fire at the IMSS Family Medical Unit number 57 in Veracruz led to the evacuation of 186 people, including patients, doctors, nurses, and administrative staff. The incident occurred during maintenance work on the air conditioning system, where cutting through metal sheets triggered an incipient fire in the ventilation ducts.

Dense smoke spread through the ceiling and ventilation systems, causing some individuals to experience coughing. Emergency protocols were activated, and security personnel assisted in moving people to the clinic's courtyard and the street. Municipal firefighters arrived to dissipate the smoke and ensure no further risks existed, particularly due to the proximity of gas installations.

Local authorities reported that no injuries or cases of intoxication were recorded. The facility faced a temporary closure to allow for safety inspections and smoke clearance.
