Veracruz inaugurates first municipal lactation room

The Veracruz Municipal DIF has inaugurated the city’s first lactation room located in the basement of the Municipal Palace. The facility is designed to provide a safe, hygienic, and comfortable environment for breastfeeding mothers, including municipal employees, local users, and tourists.

The room is equipped with air conditioning, comfortable furniture, a diaper changing station, and a refrigerator for milk storage. To provide additional support, the DIF has launched the ‘LACTAVER’ line, offering free guidance via telephone and WhatsApp.

Local authorities aim to establish at least three such spaces within the municipality this year. Planned locations include the DIF Matamoros module, the DIF administrative building, and the Civil Registry. The initiative seeks to support the approximately 70 municipal workers currently in the lactation period, helping them maintain breastfeeding during their work shifts.
