Veracruz launches motorcycle safety campaign amid rising accident rates

Students from the Universidad Popular Autónoma de Veracruz (UPAV) campus in Boca del Río have organized a road‑safety campaign aimed at reducing the surge in motorcycle accidents that has been recorded since the pandemic. The initiative, part of the Social Work program, seeks to reach about 500 community members with practical guidance on helmet use, vehicle maintenance, speed limits and traffic regulations. Campaign leader María de los Ángeles Aguilar Torres emphasized the need to “conscientize the community about motorcycle handling, the norms and injury prevention.”

The campaign, titled “Ponte el Casco, No vueles,” will culminate on Saturday, 25 July, at 09:00 h in the Sala Melchor Ocampo of the Registro Civil in the port of Veracruz, where experts will present sessions on road education, risk perception, injury prevention and basic riding rules.
