Veracruz reports economic growth and declining unemployment
Veracruz is demonstrating positive economic trends across several key indicators. According to INEGI data, the state has maintained a moderate average annual economic growth rate of 1.18 percent over the last three years.
The labor market has also seen improvements. The unemployment rate in Veracruz fell from 2.3 percent to 1.9 percent during the second quarter of 2026, placing the state among the eight entities with the lowest unemployment in Mexico. Additionally, labor poverty—measured by income insufficient to cover the basic food basket—has trended downward, and the state reported an increase in real per capita labor income.
In terms of local regulation, a new Mobility Law is currently under review by state authorities. The proposed legislation aims to establish rules for ride-hailing application drivers and define the administrative and financial responsibilities of digital platform companies, though it has not yet been sent to the State Congress.
