Veracruz Mayor Rosa María Hernández Espejo launches drainage and pool projects
Veracruz’s municipal government, led by Mayor Rosa María Hernández Espejo, inaugurated a new storm‑water drainage system in the Valente Díaz neighbourhood. The four‑million‑eight‑hundred‑thirty‑nine‑thousand‑three‑hundred‑thirty‑four peso project will install 263.90 metres of 24‑inch PVC pipe, three catch‑basin pits, three storm‑water structures and related connections, with a 90‑day construction timeline aimed at reducing floods and improving safety for residents.
The mayor also announced the construction of a semi‑olympic public swimming pool in the Amapolas area, part of a broader effort to expand sport infrastructure. She said, “Se está construyendo una alberca semiolímpica en la zona de Amapolas, precisamente para que nuestros jóvenes… tengan los espacios adecuados para practicar deporte.” The pool will serve local youth and complement recent federal and private investments in football fields and other recreational facilities.
