Veracruz Ministry of Education holds mathematics workshop for indigenous teachers

The Veracruz Ministry of Education (SEV), through its Indigenous Education Directorate, conducted a workshop titled ‘Mathematics from the Territory’ in Huayacocotla. The training was attended by 103 school supervisors and primary indigenous teachers who speak Nahuatl and Hñähñu.

The workshop aimed to integrate mathematical concepts with community knowledge without erasing the historical memory of indigenous peoples. It focused on promoting critical thinking and providing contextualized, meaningful learning within the framework of the ‘Nueva Escuela Mexicana’. Specialists from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) led the academic activities.
