Veracruz officials meet with ACOVER journalists

Veracruz government officials Ricardo Ahued Bardahuily and José Manuel Pozos Castro met with members of the Association of Communicators of Veracruz (ACOVER) to discuss relations with the press. Ahued stated that the administration of Governor Rocío Nahle García maintains an ‘open door’ policy and noted that constructive criticism is helpful for development, though he urged journalists to exercise responsibility and verify information.

However, the meeting has drawn criticism from within the journalistic community. Some observers suggest the interaction reflects internal divisions within ACOVER and express concerns regarding the independence of the organization in relation to the state government.
