Veracruz parents protest medical shortages and demand dialogue
Parents of children with cancer in Veracruz have staged intermittent roadblocks on 20 de Noviembre Avenue to demand dialogue with Governor Rocío Nahle García. The protesters are seeking solutions to critical shortages of oncological medications, medical supplies, and diagnostic studies at the Torre Pediátrica and the Hospital de Alta Especialidad de Veracruz (HAEV).
Spokesperson Cora de Jesús Rodríguez reported that a complaint has been filed with the State Human Rights Commission following her treatment during a recent visit by the Governor. Protesters also highlighted the financial strain on families traveling from regions like San Andrés Tuxtla to access care, noting difficulties in obtaining essential diagnostic tools such as contrast MRI scans due to alleged equipment shortages at local hospitals.
