Mexico road incidents: vehicles fall into trenches and sinkholes

Multiple road accidents and infrastructure issues have been reported across several Mexican municipalities. In Veracruz, a white RAM pickup truck fell into a two-meter-deep construction trench in the Reforma neighborhood after the driver allegedly failed to notice road closure signs. No injuries were reported, though the vehicle sustained material damage.

In Boca del Río, a Mazda vehicle fell into a sinkhole in the Virginia neighborhood. The driver was uninjured. Additionally, paving works on Vía Muerta are reported to be over 70 percent complete, with an expected conclusion in December, despite a recent incident involving a motorcyclist damaging fresh concrete.

In Escobedo, authorities have temporarily closed a section of Avenida Manuel L. Barragán due to pavement damage exacerbated by rain. Local officials attributed the deterioration to a sanitary drainage collapse that has remained unrepaired since November 2025.
