Mexico and Costa Rica face political turmoil amid corruption and slander allegations

Political tensions are rising across several regions due to legal disputes and corruption allegations. In Chihuahua, Mexico, Morena coordinator Cruz Pérez Cuéllar filed electoral slander complaints against PAN leaders Daniela Álvarez and Joceline Vega, accusing them of falsely linking him to organized crime. This follows internal Morena disputes regarding the impartiality of state coordinator appointments.

In Quintana Roo, the mayor of Puerto Aventuras, Gilberto “N”, and two other officials have been detained for alleged aggravated extortion of local merchants. Investigations suggest they demanded illegal payments for services that were supposed to be free.

In Yucatán, legislator Álvaro Cetina criticized the state government for donating land to the federal Tren Maya project without securing adequate improvements to local healthcare and infrastructure. Meanwhile, in Costa Rica, Deputy Cindy Murillo accused the Frente Amplio party of receiving funding from communist regimes and drug trafficking, sparking a legislative confrontation.

Other notable developments include PAN legislator Noemí Luna accusing Morena of doubling public debt, and debates in Veracruz regarding political figures' alleged ties to criminal organizations.
