Veracruz reports $4.27 billion in investment and tourism growth

Veracruz is experiencing significant economic and tourism growth driven by infrastructure investment and community-based initiatives. Governor Rocío Nahle García highlighted the restoration of the historic Heriberto Jara Corona Stadium in Xalapa as a key component of a strategy to attract international sports tourism.

Economically, the state has announced $4.27 billion in investments for 2026. According to Ernesto Pérez Astorga, Secretary of Economic and Port Development, Veracruz leads the nation in electricity generation and non-associated gas production, while maintaining a strong position in hydrocarbons and industrial exports. The state's industrial activity saw a 6.8 percent annual growth as of May 2026.

Tourism is also expanding through community-led projects. In Yucatán, the “Manos y Sabores de San Ignacio” initiative promotes local traditions, while Veracruz is promoting community experiences in Naolinco, Tequila, Catemaco, and Mecayapan. Additionally, local environmental and social efforts continue, such as the “Dejando Huella” event in Xalapa, which collected two tons of animal food for local shelters.
