Veracruz Prosecutor Appoints New Lead for Missing Persons Unit

The Veracruz State Attorney General's Office has appointed Denise Moreno Córdova to lead the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Attention of Missing Persons Reports. The appointment was made by Attorney General Lisbeth Aurelia Jiménez Aguirre.

Moreno Córdova, who has previous experience within the institution, is tasked with coordinating investigations and search efforts for missing individuals in the state. The move comes amid ongoing pressure from search collectives and families demanding justice and results regarding the persistent issue of disappearances in Veracruz. The Prosecutor's Office stated it intends to maintain dialogue with families and work under principles of human rights and due diligence.
