Veracruz residents protest unfinished Grupo MAS infrastructure repairs

Residents of the Ricardo Flores Magón neighborhood in Veracruz, Mexico, are protesting an unfinished infrastructure project by the water concessionaire, Grupo MAS. The issue began when a sinkhole formed in the Callejón 21 de Marzo due to a damaged drainage pipe.

While workers arrived to repair the underground pipe, they reportedly abandoned the site without restoring the pavement, removing debris, or compacting the excavated earth. This has left a significant portion of the alleyway impassable for both vehicles and pedestrians. Local residents, including those with reduced mobility, report that the piles of sand, discarded pipes, and removed cobblestones have created major obstacles to daily activities for over ten days.
