President Sheinbaum and Governor Nahle push forward major Veracruz road and flood‑protection projects

President Claudia Sheinbaum and Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle inspected several infrastructure works in the state. The Veracruz‑Xalapa road distributor, a 2‑km, two‑lane access to the port, is 72.3% complete and slated to finish in July 2026, five months ahead of schedule. With an investment of over 820 million pesos, the project is expected to cut travel times by up to 30 minutes for more than 780 000 residents of Veracruz, Boca del Río, Medellín and Jamapa.

In the Laguna Verde–La Mancha segment of the Cardel‑Poza Rica highway, work is 35% finished. The 20‑km stretch, costing 2.252 billion pesos and employing 206 workers, will reduce corridor travel by about 45 minutes and serve 128 000 people in Actopan and Alto Lucero.

Separate flood‑protection works on the Bobos River include a 10‑km levee and river‑bed cleaning, funded with roughly 700 million pesos. The barrier protects the communities of La Constancia, La Reforma, Troncones, La Defensa and Felipe Carrillo Puerto in the municipalities of Martínez de la Torre and Misantla, reducing flood risk for thousands of families. Officials highlighted the projects as examples of “governing by listening to the people.”
