Veracruz Secretary of Culture spends 864,000 pesos on influencer conferences
The Veracruz Secretary of Culture, under the administration of Rocío Nahle, has faced scrutiny regarding the allocation of funds for cultural events. Documents reveal that 864,200 pesos were paid for conferences delivered by content creators Diego Ruzzarín and Farid Dieck during the Festival del Mar. Each speaker provided approximately 60 minutes of content, including a Q&A session.
Other expenditures noted include 229,500 pesos paid to playwright Sabina Berman for a lecture and a book presentation in early 2024. While the state allocated over 20 million pesos for various artists and performers at the festival, local artists and cultural managers in Veracruz have reported difficulties accessing resources, facing low fees, and experiencing delays in payments.
The controversy centers on the perceived disparity between the high fees paid to media personalities and the limited support provided to local creators within the state.
