Veracruz specialists urge improved motorcycle safety measures

Motorcycle accidents remain a persistent concern on the roads of Veracruz. In response, specialists are urging riders to reinforce safety measures and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent fatalities.

Gerardo Gutiérrez García, an organizer of a motorcycle championship in Veracruz, emphasized that personal protective equipment is the essential starting point for risk reduction, regardless of the trip's length.

Experts also highlighted the danger of lane splitting, a common practice where motorcyclists weave between rows of cars in slow traffic. To mitigate risks, specialists recommend that motorcycles occupy a full, defined lane like any other vehicle. For low-displacement motorcycles, staying in the far-right lane is advised. Additionally, riders are encouraged to use turn signals and horns appropriately to improve road communication.
