Veracruz strengthens regional security through interstate agreements

Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has announced a significant reinforcement of security measures to combat organized crime, particularly in border areas. Following the recovery of three trucks stolen during a coordinated assault near Maltrata, the state has tripled its highway surveillance by increasing patrols and acquiring new patrol vehicles in coordination with the National Guard.

To address criminal cells operating across state lines, Veracruz has established security collaboration agreements with the neighboring states of Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Oaxaca. These pacts provide legal certainty and operational authority for security forces to intervene in border zones, such as the Amozoc-Veracruz triangle, where criminals previously used jurisdictional boundaries to evade capture.

Additionally, Governor Nahle has been conducting administrative reviews in Boca del Río to oversee state finances, public spending, and regional economic development strategies aimed at all 212 municipalities.
