Veracruz to invest billions in new hospitals and medical upgrades
Governor Rocío Nahle García has announced a major overhaul of the healthcare infrastructure in Veracruz, including the construction of five new hospitals and significant upgrades to existing facilities. The new hospital projects, directed by President Claudia Sheinbaum and executed through IMSS-Bienestar, will be located in Pánuco, Misantla, Tuxpan, Tlapacoyan, and Tempoal. This initiative involves an investment of 3.801 billion pesos to replace aging or structurally damaged units, such as the 1923 hospital in Pánuco.
In Coatzacoalcos, the Dr. Valentín Gómez Farías Specialty Hospital will receive an initial 21 million pesos for rehabilitation, which includes the addition of a burn unit and a magnetic resonator.
To improve medical services, the state is implementing a digital inventory control system (SACIA) to optimize the distribution of medicines and supplies across 22 health centers, preventing expiration and addressing shortages. Additionally, efforts are underway to ensure specialized staffing, including doctors and nurses, and to secure essential services like neonatology and blood transfusions in newly inaugurated facilities.
