Mexico implements regional housing, health, and infrastructure programs

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and regional leaders are implementing various social and infrastructure programs across several states. In Tlaxcala, Sheinbaum announced the construction of 17,330 new homes under the ‘Vivienda para el Bienestar’ program and the restructuring of approximately 30,000 Infonavit credits to assist families with payment difficulties.

In Veracruz, Governor Rocío Nahle is supervising the IMSS-Bienestar hospital network to ensure the universality of health services. Her inspections have identified critical needs in infrastructure, medical supplies, and equipment, leading to plans for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Río Blanco Regional Hospital. Amidst these efforts, President Sheinbaum called for a review of the conduct of IMSS-Bienestar coordinator Roberto Ramos Alor following controversial remarks made to medical residents regarding supply shortages.

Other regional developments include the construction of over 10,000 homes in Tabasco through Infonavit, and significant water infrastructure investments in Zacatecas. In Manizales, Colombia, educational infrastructure projects are continuing despite recent seismic activity, with several school renovations expected to conclude by late 2026. Additionally, in Spain, the expansion of the Cabueñes University Hospital is moving toward a new bidding process for its first phase of construction.

In Michoacán, the state government reported record investments in school infrastructure and the implementation of universal scholarships for over 842,000 students.
