Veracruz invests in early warning systems and emergency aircraft
Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has announced new investments in disaster prevention and emergency response following previous heavy rainfall events in the state. The administration is prioritizing the strengthening of civil protection through the implementation of the Veracruz North Early Warning System (SAT-VN) for the Poza Rica and Álamo regions.
Key measures include the installation of electronic monitoring equipment to measure water levels in the Cazones and Pantepec rivers, in coordination with the National Water Commission. Additionally, the state is acquiring four aircraft to assist in emergency evacuations, the transport of supplies, and firefighting efforts, with the first two expected to arrive next month.
In terms of infrastructure and social support, the government is working on improving road connectivity in the Huasteca region and advancing the relocation of families in Poza Rica, Álamo, and Huayacocotla to safer areas. The governor also highlighted the importance of coordination with the Mexican Army, Navy, and National Guard, noting the 60th anniversary of the Army's Plan DN-III-E.
