Estado de México receives 1.3 billion pesos for public health
The Federal Government and the State of Mexico have formalized a new financial adjustment for public health programs in the entity. The Second Modifying Agreement, published on September 23, allocates 1,349,207,950 pesos in federal resources and supplies.
Of this total, 82,374,308 pesos are budgetary resources to be deposited with the state Secretariat of Finance, while 1,266,833,642 pesos consist of federal supplies to be delivered directly to the State of Mexico Secretariat of Health or the State of Mexico Institute of Health. Key programs receiving support include universal vaccination, maternal and sexual health, HIV, hepatitis, cancer prevention, and epidemiological surveillance. The largest portion, 1,128,413,000 pesos, is designated for the Universal Vaccination Program.
This funding arrives amid ongoing protests from workers, patients, and families who have denounced shortages of medicines, equipment, and supplies, as well as issues with hemodialysis and salary delays in local hospitals.
