Verascient raises $1.2M to build AI infrastructure for enterprise knowledge

Cape Town-based AI infrastructure startup Verascient has secured $1.2 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Founder Collective, with participation from Andrena Ventures, Cambridge Enterprise, Summit Ventures, and angel investors Alan Knott-Craig and Shayne Mann.

Verascient is developing a temporal knowledge graph designed to bridge the gap between general AI models and specific corporate intelligence. The technology aims to aggregate scattered institutional knowledge from emails, documents, meeting notes, and internal systems, ensuring that AI agents can access information while maintaining history, permissions, and provenance.

The company is targeting industries with high volumes of complex data, such as financial services, insurance, and logistics. CEO Keagan Stokoe and CTO Emile Dos Santos Ferreira intend to use the capital to expand their engineering team and support enterprise deployments, focusing on the practical challenges of integrating AI into existing business workflows.
