Verbania advances San Bernardino cycle path project
The municipality of Verbania is developing a project for the ‘Ciclovia del San Bernardino’, a cycle path intended to connect to the Val Grande National Park and existing regional cycling networks. The current phase involves a public consultation period ending October 9 to gather citizen suggestions for the technical-economic project, which must be submitted to the Piedmont region by October 30.
The proposed route focuses on Via Olanda, stretching from the Third Bridge to the Plusc Bridge. Beyond the cycling path, the plan includes reorganizing parking to prevent vehicle interference and creating access points to the river.
The Intra District Council has submitted proposals to the administration, suggesting that the project could integrate a dedicated dog walking area if properly separated for safety. The Council also recommended careful selection of tree species, specifically advising against female Ginkgo biloba trees to avoid unpleasant odors from fallen fruit.
