Verbania to lead European ‘Vitamina G’ project for elderly wellbeing
The municipality of Verbania has been selected as the lead entity for ‘Vitamina G’, an international project funded by the European Erasmus+ Adult Education program. The two-year initiative, running from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2028, has a total budget of 250,000 euros, with approximately 58,920 euros allocated for local activities.
The project aims to utilize urban parks and gardens as centers for lifelong learning, health, and social participation for the elderly. Through gardening and the maintenance of public greenery, the program intends to train senior volunteers to become ‘Senior Ambassadors’ of sustainability and active aging, thereby strengthening social cohesion.
As the lead coordinator, Verbania will manage an international network of organizations, including Austria’s Gartenpolylog, Ireland’s Global Action Plan Ltd, Slovenia’s Institute for Health and the Environment, and Greece’s Roes social cooperative.
