Verdú celebrates record attendance at 36th Bacus wine festival

The town of Verdú recently held the 36th edition of Bacus, a grape and wine festival, which saw a significant resurgence in popularity. A new organizing committee formed under the Xercavins cultural association worked to revitalize the event, resulting in record attendance in the town's squares and streets.

Key highlights of the celebration included musical performances by La Ludwig Band and the recovery of traditional musical pieces played with cobla during the Bacanal. The festival also featured wine tastings from eight local wineries, a craft market, and a sardana contest. A major highlight was the 'gran piada', where children dressed as 'catalanets' participated in the traditional grape stomping.

During the festivities, Manel Mayoral was honored with the 'Piador de l’Any' award in recognition of his contributions to the community and his work with the Toy and Automata Museum.
