Veria signs contract for €13.57 million indoor gymnasium

The Municipality of Veria has signed a contract for the construction of a new indoor gymnasium and the redevelopment of an outdoor activity area at the entrance of the city. The project has a total budget of €13,575,209.26. The contract was signed by Mayor Konstantinos Vorgiazidis, Deputy Mayor Aris Lazaridis, and Dimitrios Papanikolaou, the legal representative of the Thessaloniki-based contractor 'Sidirodromika Erga ATE'.

The facility will span a total built-up area of 5,701.93 square meters across three levels. The complex is designed to accommodate competitive, training, and support functions through three distinct building volumes. The central volume will house the main competition area—sized for handball—and stands with a total of 1,677 fixed seats. This seating includes 1,480 seats for the public, 197 seats for VIPs and journalists, and 14 seats designated for persons with disabilities (PWD).

The second volume will contain administration offices, a gym, and a refreshment area, while the third volume will provide locker rooms, athlete and referee spaces, a press room, and a control room. The project also includes two underground sections for electromechanical installations and follows the functional guidelines set by the General Secretariat of Sports.
