Verisk acquires McKenzie Intelligence Services to boost catastrophe analytics

Verisk, the U.S. data‑analytics and technology firm, has completed the acquisition of McKenzie Intelligence Services (MIS), a London‑based provider of geospatial intelligence and event‑response analytics. The purchase, announced by Verisk’s Catastrophe and Risk Solutions division, adds MIS’s rapid post‑event damage assessment and real‑time intelligence to Verisk’s existing catastrophe models, risk analytics and claims solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is not expected to materially affect Verisk’s earnings. According to Rob Newbold, President of Verisk Catastrophe and Risk Solutions, the combined offering will give insurers, reinsurers, brokers and loss adjusters a more complete view of unfolding natural or conflict events, improving decisions on exposure, claims triage and policyholder support. MIS founder Forbes McKenzie said the companies had already partnered on integrating real‑time event data, making the acquisition a natural fit as catastrophes become increasingly disruptive worldwide.
