Veritas University wins inaugural NBA REC University Tournament

Veritas University has won the inaugural NBA REC University Tournament after defeating the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) with a score of 41-36. The two-day competition took place on August 7-8 at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Sports Center.

The tournament featured eight university teams from across Nigeria, including the University of Ibadan, Lagos State University, and Afe Babalola University (ABUAD). Following the initial group stages, Veritas, ABUAD, UNIABUJA, and UNILAG advanced to the semi-finals. In the final placement matches, UNILAG secured third place by defeating ABUAD 57-50, while Veritas claimed the championship title.

Anthony Chioke of ABUAD was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP). The event, organized through a collaboration between the NBA, Future Concerns Nigeria Limited, and Munch It, included musical performances and fan activations to promote the NBA REC platform for players aged 18 and older.
