Amazon MGM Studios to release ‘Verity’ film adaptation in October 2026

Amazon MGM Studios is producing a film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s psychological thriller novel ‘Verity’, scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026. Directed by Michael Showalter from a screenplay by Nick Antosca, the production has a reported budget of $40 million.

The film stars Anne Hathaway as Verity Crawford, a bestselling author incapacitated by an accident, and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to complete Crawford’s book series. Josh Hartnett portrays Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband. The plot follows Lowen as she discovers a disturbing unpublished manuscript in the Crawford family home that blurs the lines between fiction and reality.

Director Michael Showalter noted that the production emphasized intimate and erotic elements, including scenes not found in the original novel. The cast has described the filming process as collaborative, highlighting the palpable chemistry between the leads and the technical challenges of the thriller's intense sequences.
