Verivox survey: 20% of internet users reject fiber optic

A survey conducted by Verivox reveals that 20 percent of current DSL and cable internet users in Germany are unwilling to switch to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology. Additionally, one-third of respondents remain undecided about making the transition.

Key barriers to adoption include dissatisfaction with potential costs and technical complexity. Approximately 76 percent of those refusing to switch reported being satisfied with their current connections, while 27 percent cited concerns regarding the technical effort required for installation. Furthermore, 19 percent are deterred by reports of expansion issues.

To encourage switching, consumers expressed a need for more transparent and fair pricing, with 57 percent highlighting this as a priority. Other requested improvements include continuous internet connectivity during the transition period, reliable switching dates, and better technical support or customer service hotlines.
