Verizon and Corning sign multi-billion-dollar fiber supply deal

Verizon and Corning have entered into a multi-billion-dollar supply agreement to expand fiber broadband and build long-haul network capacity for artificial intelligence. Running from 2027 through 2032, the deal covers more than 80 million miles of high-density optical fiber and connectivity solutions.

The agreement is designed to support two primary objectives: advancing Verizon’s goal of reaching 40–50 million broadband passings and providing the high-capacity, low-latency backbone required for AI data center traffic. This expansion follows Verizon’s acquisition of Frontier Communications, which increased its fiber footprint to over 30 million passings.

This contract significantly exceeds the scale of a previous 2017 agreement between the two companies. The new deal reflects a shift in fiber demand toward supporting AI-driven data center infrastructure alongside traditional residential and business broadband services.
