Verizon broadband project joins Delaware JobsFirst Accelerator
Governor Matt Meyer has announced the inclusion of the Verizon Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) project in the JobsFirst Accelerator program. This initiative aims to connect more than 2,000 homes and businesses across Delaware with high-speed broadband infrastructure.
The project involves collaboration between the Governor’s Office, the Delaware Broadband Office, the Department of Technology and Information, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and Verizon. By utilizing the JobsFirst permitting acceleration efforts, state agencies will review permits on a shared timeline to expedite construction and connectivity.
The $43.3 million commitment leverages nearly $4 in private capital for every $1 of federal funding invested, intended to support the state's economic competitiveness and technological infrastructure.
