Verkmenntaskóli Austurlands is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a series of events. The festivities begin on Friday, September 4, with a concert in Egilsbúð at 21:00, featuring performances by former students from various graduating classes.

On Saturday, September 5, an anniversary program will commence in Egilsbúð at 14:00, followed by an open house at the school. The event includes coffee and cake at the school, providing an opportunity for former and current students, staff, and families to visit the facilities and learn about the institution's operations.

Established in 1986 to succeed the secondary school in Neskaupstað, the school was founded by the state and local municipalities in East Iceland. It has served as a cornerstone of the regional community by adapting its educational offerings to meet changing societal needs.
