Vermiglio film to broadcast on Rai 3

The award-winning film ‘Vermiglio’, directed by Maura Delpero, is scheduled to broadcast on Rai 3. The film, which won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival and seven David di Donatello awards, is set in the Trentino mountains in 1944.

The narrative follows Lucia, the daughter of a local teacher, and her relationship with Pietro, a Sicilian soldier who seeks refuge in the village. As the Second World War nears its end, the couple marries and expects a child. However, the story takes a tragic turn when Pietro returns to Sicily, leaving Lucia to discover through a newspaper that he has been killed by his first wife after she discovered his second marriage.

The film explores themes of war, prejudice, and the rigid social structures of the era, focusing on the emotional aftermath of these revelations for the protagonists.
