Vermont Windsor District Primary Pits Incumbent Jim Masland Against Two Newcomers, Senate Incumbents Endorsed

The Aug. 11 Democratic primary in Vermont’s Windsor‑Orange‑2 House district will decide two seats for Norwich, Sharon, Strafford and Thetford. Incumbent Rep. Jim Masland is running again, joined by former finance director Dee Gish and first‑time candidate Lauren Morando Rhim, who brings experience from the Norwich School Board. No Republican candidates are on the ballot, making the primary the de‑facto election. Masland said he prefers to refine legislation in committee, while Gish highlighted her budget expertise and concerns about affordable housing, climate change and the impact of Act 170 on shared services. Morando Rhim emphasized local school issues and the need to retain young residents.

In a separate letter to the editor, former legislator Alison Clarkson urged voters to re‑elect state Senators Becca White and Joe Major, praising their work for the Windsor District’s 60,000 residents and their stance on education and constituent issues.
