Tragedy in Dominican Republic and death of Max Higgins in Argentina

In the Dominican Republic, a catamaran named ‘Don Castro’ capsized near Punta Salinas beach in Baní, Peravia province. The vessel was carrying 12 passengers when the incident occurred. Authorities, including the Dominican Navy, reported that 25-year-old Yairi Mateo died following the accident. One 29-year-old man remains in intensive care at the Hospital Provincial Nuestra Señora de Regla with severe respiratory distress. The remaining passengers are reported to be in stable condition.

In Argentina, Max Higgins, a Jamaican businessman known for his 2007 promise to build a ‘Disney-style’ complex in San Pedro, was found dead in the Libertad area of Merlo. Higgins, who had previously gained notoriety for organizing a reality show featuring football legends, was discovered by a bus driver in a public space. He had reportedly been living on the streets for several weeks. While authorities are investigating the exact cause of death, preliminary findings suggest it may have been due to natural causes, as no signs of violence were immediately apparent.
