Vernaccia di San Gimignano celebrates 60 years of DOC status
The Vernaccia di San Gimignano wine celebrated its 60th anniversary of DOC recognition, one of the first in Italy established in 1966. The denomination boasts a history dating back to at least 1276, with literary references found in the works of Dante and Boccaccio.
During the fourth Regina Ribelle-Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest in Tuscany, new vintages starting from 2025 were presented. Despite complex climatic conditions, the new releases are noted for their balance, territorial identity, and a distinctive saline character reflecting the ancient origins of the local terrain.
