Verónica dairy plant resumes partial production in Suardi
The Verónica dairy plant in Suardi has resumed partial operations after several months of paralysis. Through an agreement with Copalac to work under a contract manufacturing (fasón) scheme, the plant successfully processed its first 50,000 liters of milk for powder production.
While the restart is viewed as a positive step toward gradually increasing industrial activity and reincorporating staff, the impact is currently limited. The initial phase only involves a portion of the approximately 82 plant workers. There are plans to introduce raw materials this week to boost production and potentially expand into cheese manufacturing.
Despite this development, a significant labor crisis persists. Union representatives report that the conflict affects approximately 430 workers. The central grievances involve unpaid salaries, including outstanding bonuses from the previous year and unpaid wages dating back to December 2025, alongside uncertainty regarding the company’s long-term future.
