Verónica Martínez García demands medicine supply for cancer patients

Federal Deputy Verónica Martínez García has called on Mexican authorities to ensure the timely and continuous supply of medications within the IMSS and ISSSTE healthcare systems in Coahuila, specifically emphasizing the need to protect cancer patients. Through a formal agreement, the legislator argued that interruptions in oncological treatments due to shortages pose a direct risk to patient lives and cannot be treated as mere administrative or distribution issues.

Martínez García proposed strengthening purchase planning, hospital distribution, inventory supervision, and early warning systems to prevent stockouts. While federal health reports indicated a 96 percent supply level for IMSS and 94 percent for ISSSTE as of July 2025, the deputy stressed that the state must guarantee the permanent availability of necessary medical supplies to ensure effective healthcare access.
