Verónica Ruffo invited to seek PAN gubernatorial candidacy in Baja California
The National Action Party (PAN) in Baja California has invited Verónica Ruffo Sánchez to participate in the internal process to select its candidate for the state governorship. Lizbeth Mata Lozano, the state leader of PAN, confirmed that Ruffo Sánchez expressed interest in running, stating that the party has opened a dialogue with her.
Verónica Ruffo Sánchez, a marketing professional and founder of Veritas Technology VR, indicated that her interest in the candidacy is driven by the desire to advocate for her father, former Governor Ernesto Ruffo Appel. Ruffo Appel is currently imprisoned for alleged involvement in fuel tax fraud, a charge his family characterizes as politically motivated.
To secure the nomination, Ruffo Sánchez must register and participate in a citizen engagement forum in October, followed by a public opinion poll next month. She will compete against other registered aspirants, including Héctor Osuna, Ignacio Anaya, Margarita Sánchez, and Eva María Vázquez.
