Vernon Adams Jr. cleared to return for Calgary Stampeders

Calgary Stampeders quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has been cleared to return to action for the Labour Day Classic against the Edmonton Elks. The 33-year-old has successfully completed the Canadian Football League’s concussion protocol after missing one game due to a head injury sustained three weeks ago during a match against the B.C. Lions.

Adams Jr. has had a strong season, recording 2,548 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and two interceptions through 10 games, while also contributing 214 rushing yards and three touchdowns. During his absence, backup Josh Love led the team to a victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Love will remain on the active roster, while Ben Wooldridge moves to the reserve list.

The Stampeders will face defensive challenges as Charles Wiley and Elijah Hills have been placed on the six-game injured list due to ankle injuries. American rookies Savio Frazier and Khairi Manns will provide depth in their absence.
