Canadian infrastructure and road safety projects underway

Various infrastructure and safety projects are underway across Canada. In Vernon, British Columbia, the City and the Ministry of Transportation and Transit are proceeding with a $6.9 million project to install a signalized intersection at Highway 6 and Pottery Road. The upgrade includes new sidewalks and multi-use paths, with completion expected in fall 2027.

In Manitoba, the provincial government is implementing safety measures at the intersection of Provincial Road 229 and Highway 8 near Winnipeg Beach following a fatal crash involving four teenagers. Improvements include the installation of red flashing lights on stop signs, refreshed rumble strips, and new paint lines.

Additionally, the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain project is causing significant traffic disruptions near the Langley-Surrey border. Major closures and single-lane traffic patterns are scheduled for late September and early October to facilitate the installation of the SkyTrain guideway at the intersection of Fraser Highway and 188th Street.
