Vernon begins downtown parkade renewal project

The City of Vernon will begin a multi-phase renewal and maintenance project on the downtown parkade on 31st Avenue starting Monday, August 17. The $850,000 project aims to extend the facility's lifespan through concrete and stairwell repairs, as well as waterproofing to address existing deterioration.

The parkade will remain open during construction, though certain sections will face temporary closures as work progresses. While one stairwell is closed at a time, the other will remain accessible, and the elevator will continue to operate. Users should expect construction noise, dust, and equipment activity, along with temporary parking and access restrictions.

Construction is scheduled to continue through fall 2026, with regular working hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some work may occur on weekends to minimize disruption. The project is being funded by the Growing Communities Fund, Casino Fund, and Infrastructure Reserve.
