VeRo itinerary launches cross-border tourism between Italy and France
The VeRo tourist itinerary, a cross-border project connecting Italy and France, is being officially launched along the historic Cuneo-Ventimiglia-Nice railway line. The initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism and highlight the cultural and historical heritage of the southwestern Alps.
The itinerary features 12 main stops, including eight new attractions, with symbolic gateways located at the railway stations in Borgo San Dalmazzo, Italy, and Breil-sur-Roya, France. Travelers can explore historical sites, immersive art installations, and virtual reality experiences. Key locations include the Écomusée du Train des Merveilles, the Monastère de Saorge, and various museums and trekking routes across the Vermenagna and Roya valleys.
Supported by the Interreg VI A France-Italy ALCOTRA 2021/2027 program through the Vermenagna Roya III project, the initiative also serves as a precursor to the centenary of the Cuneo-Ventimiglia-Nice railway line in 2028. Recent promotional efforts included a four-day familiarization trip for tour operators from nine European countries to showcase the integrated regional offering.
