Veroli and Verona enhance historic centres with new access infrastructure

In the hill town of Veroli, a multi‑year regeneration project has been completed, adding an expanded parking area, an inclined elevator and a refreshed pedestrian route that link the medieval historic centre with the lower town. The works aim to improve mobility for residents, visitors and people with reduced mobility, turning a long‑standing access problem into a functional system.

In Verona, the 16th‑century Rondella delle Boccare fortification has been made fully accessible after the construction of a new entrance from via Madonna del Terraglio and the restoration of its stone walls. The €380,000 improvement, funded by the Ministry of Tourism’s UNESCO‑related fund and supplemented by municipal contributions, is part of the “Smart Verona UNESCO” initiative and creates a self‑guided pedestrian pathway for citizens and tourists.
