Verona nurse arrested for alleged murder of wife with insulin
Nadir Rossi, a 35-year-old former nurse, has been arrested in Verona, Italy, on charges of premeditated murder following the death of his wife, Jessica Dalla Chiara, in June 2024. Investigators allege that Rossi used his medical expertise to administer non-therapeutic doses of insulin to his wife, causing severe hypoglycemic crises that eventually proved fatal.
The investigation, which spanned over two years, was triggered by reports from the Verona University Hospital after post-mortem laboratory tests indicated that the victim's repeated hypoglycemic episodes were caused by external insulin administration rather than natural causes. Authorities also noted that Rossi allegedly attempted to hide the crime by requesting a rapid cremation of the body and by altering a suicide note on the victim's phone to cover up an extramarital affair.
A potential motive identified by investigators is financial: Rossi reportedly collected a 100,000 euro life insurance payout following the death. Additional charges include attempted murder, destruction of a corpse, insurance fraud, and the theft of medications from a hospital facility.
