Verona to host Titian masterpiece for Castelvecchio centenary
The Museo di Castelvecchio in Verona will host a major exhibition from October 31, 2026, to January 31, 2027, to celebrate the museum's centenary. The centerpiece of the exhibition is an exceptional loan from the Museo del Prado in Madrid: Titian’s ‘Venus with a Dog and an Organist’.
Titled ‘Titian’s Venus and the Musical Renaissance: Music for the Eyes from the Prado Museum to the City of Verona’, the exhibition explores the relationship between painting, music, and humanistic reflection. Alongside the Titian masterpiece, the display will feature approximately thirty works, including paintings, sculptures, musical instruments, and original scores. The exhibition also includes Venetian paintings held at Castelvecchio, such as Jacopo Tintoretto’s ‘The Contesa delle Muse’ and ‘The Pierides’.
