Veronica Barbati appointed president of Campania IGP Olive Oil Consortium

Veronica Barbati has been named president of the renewed Campania IGP Olive Oil Protection Consortium. Barbati, an agricultural entrepreneur and provincial president of Coldiretti Avellino, aims to secure official recognition for the consortium and launch promotional campaigns to strengthen the presence of Campanian olive oil in national and international markets.

The consortium focuses on protecting local cultivars, particularly the Ravece variety found in the Irpinia region. Campania possesses approximately 70,000 hectares of olive groves, with over 8,000 hectares located in Irpinia. Barbati noted that despite recent challenges, current harvests show good quantities and high quality, with potential for growth through regional agricultural projects.
