Veronica Panarello sentenced to 30 years for murder of son

The Italian Court of Cassation has upheld a 30-year prison sentence for Veronica Panarello for the murder and concealment of her son, Lorys Stival. The crime occurred on November 29, 2014, in Santa Croce Camerina, where Panarello was accused of strangling the boy.

The final ruling follows a long judicial process, rejecting Panarello’s appeal to revise the previous sentence issued by the Catania Court of Assizes in July 2018. Lorys's father, Davide, expressed relief at the definitive conviction, while Panarello’s defense attorney indicated they might seek to reopen the case if new evidence emerges. Panarello currently remains in detention in Turin.
